Atlas

The debut album from RÜFÜS DU SOL (then known as RÜFÜS) arrived at a time when Australian dance music was blowing up on a global scale. So it’s no surprise that Atlas captures the sun-drenched sound of the trio’s Sydney hometown, spanning both high-energy, pop-leaning anthems (“Take Me” and “Tonight”) and breezier, synth-led tracks like “Simplicity Is Bliss.” Tying it all together is frontman Tyrone Lindqvist’s vocals, which get soulful when he sings about love and longing. “I don’t wanna sort it out/I’m feeling like I’m falling in two,” he sighs on “Sarah,” a standout moment on a career-making LP.
