Tango's never sounded spacier than it does with Bajofondo, who combine an acoustic lineup and electronic touches, fusing earthy dance rhythms with exotic high-tech production. On the instrumental "Cristal," accordion and double bass dance alongside synths and loops. Nelly Furtado sings of dangerous desires on "Slippery Sidewalks," which has a moody, film-noir feel. Elvis Costello emotes on the yearning ballad "Fairly Right." And leader Gustavo Santaolalla's film-composing background informs "Grand Guignol," a playful mix of funky riffs and horror-movie strings.
