About
Originally a subsidiary of Mercury Records in the 1960s (see Smash Records (4)), Smash Records was reactivated by parent company PolyGram as a US dance label in 1991, first as part of the PolyGram Label Group, and then later as part of the Island Records family in 1992. Their most famous record as a dance label is LaTour's "People Are Still Having Sex". President: Marvin Gleicher. A&R: Connie Varvitsiotis. See Smash Records Productions, Inc. for company credits.
