As Rita Marley assumed control of Tuff Gong in lieu of her husband (Tuff Gong co-founder and Reggae legend) Bob Marley's death in 1981, she established the secondary subsidiary, Rita Marley Music, in 1983 as a vehicle to continue the Marley family legacy as well as to develop upcoming talent.
