With more than three decades in the comedy and music business, Oglio has seen seismic changes. The rise and fall of CDs, the fall and rise of LPs, the popularity of downloading music shifting to streaming music and so much more. Through it all we have learned that the delivery method is not as important as the message. Comedy and music still have the power to entertain and to change lives. Oglio was a pioneer in the development of the joint venture relationship between artist and label. In 1999 we began entering into artist friendly “profit sharing” deals with our artists. These deals allowed us to work as friendly partners with our artists rather than the typical adversarial relationship seen by so many artists. As a result we have been able to work with some of the biggest names in music and provide the services they needed without the baggage that goes with a major label deal. With the advent of digital delivery and the DIY movement, artists have more power and control than ever before. But, with great power comes great responsibility. Many artists find themselves overwhelmed by the tasks now expected of them: writing, recording, artwork, packaging, manufacturing, distribution and ultimately marketing of their work. Artists are finding this to be distracting from their true passion – creating great art. From this need Oglio has now entered the management business helping our artists do everything from handle the logistics of e-commerce to negotiating film and television licensing deals for their music.
