Nuclear Blast America

Sub-label of Nuclear Blast

1990–2019

About

Inactive Nuclear Blast sublabel owned by Nuclear Blast and marketed in the US by Relapse Records, which was the result of Relapse's efforts to release American recordings of Nuclear Blast's artists like Pungent Stench, Disharmonic Orchestra, Benediction and Dismember. Nuclear Blast America was set up in February 1991 by Relapse founder Matthew F. Jacobson, Relapse collaborator Bill Yurkiewicz and Nuclear Blast president Markus Staiger. During the following months, Relapse arranged a distribution deal for Relapse Records and Nuclear Blast America with Relativity Entertainment Distribution. In May 1991 Relapse relocated from Denver, Colorado to Millersville, Pennsylvania. The collaboration between Relapse and Nuclear Blast eventually broke up in 2002 and as a result Nuclear Blast America was disbanded and Nuclear Blast GmbH set up it's own US branch Nuclear Blast America, Inc. which markets and manufactures Nuclear Blast releases in the USA. All US releases since then should be added under the Nuclear Blast label. The cat#s for this label follow the standard Relapse pattern "6XXX-Y", but with the "NBA" prefix instead of the "RR" prefix. Releases distributed by Relativity Entertainment are marked with an additional "RED" in the cat#. Please note: This label has been defunct since 2002.
