About

Lost Nite Records was a Philadelphia, Pennsylvania reissue record label that was founded by Jerry Greene and Jared Weinstein in the early 1960's. Disc jockey Jerry Blavat was a partner in label until the late 1960's, at which time he sold back his interest in the company to Greene and Weinstein. Lost Nite, and its sister label Crimson Records were known for releasing rare and hard-to-find doo-wop and R&B records. Lost Nite was one of the few labels responsible for keeping the doo-wop genre alive during the late 1960's and 1970's. The most popular single released by the label was "There's A Moon Out Tonight" by The Capris. After the demise of Lost Nite, founder Jerry Greene established Collectables] Records in 1980. Early 1960's pressings have yellow labels with no lamppost image at left. That design came in circa 1965. Originally, the lamppost labels showed either no address or an address of "1005 Chestnut St. Phila. PA.". Subsequent pressings then showed addresses of "P.O. Box 801, Bala Cynwyd, PA, 19004" or "P.O. Box 2510, Cherry Hill, NJ 08034" (virtually all orange label) or "Box 35, Narberth, PA 19072" (an address also linked to Collectables Records). In addition, some blue label 1000 series catalog numbers were distributed by Atlantic or ATCO records with an NYC address.
