Canadian independent label founded in 1981 by Ben Hoffman's Record Peddler, originally as a spinoff of Ready Records. Active through the 1990s releasing a variety of genres including punk, metal, electronic/industrial, and alternative rock. In 1988 Fringe Product Inc. was incorporated as a separate entity to manage the label. That same year Fringe and Record Peddler were charged with criminal obscenity by the RCMP stemming from Dayglo Abortions releases; in 1990 the charges were cleared after a lengthy trial.
