Independent European record company and publisher based near Munich, founded by Karl Egger, [a1264053] and producer [a247567] in 1969. ECM stands for Edition of Contemporary Music. Karl Egger was the initiator and financier who payed the fees for the label's inception and the production costs for the first release. To this day he is, together with [a247567], the president of ECM Records. Whereas [a247567] is the artistic head and producer of ECM, Karl Egger functions as leader of the distribution and the staff, which is employed by him. Karl Egger also provides the premises for ECM Records in Gräfelfing and before at its first location in Munich-Pasing. NOTE: Please use this label only for secondary company credits (ie.
