Cosmos Music is the biggest independent music company in the Nordic region. Cosmos Music's history dates back to 1966. This was when record label Amigo Musik was founded by brothers and in Stockholm, Sweden. Bonnier Amigo Music Group had started in 2001 as the result of the merging of the record companies Amigo & Bonnier Music. In December 2009 the management buy out was completed after Bonnier Amigo period. The company is today privately owned by Fredrik Ekander, Cai Leitner, Kent Gillström and Christian Drougge. In early 2010 Cosmos Music Group entered a partnership with fellow Swedish indie Playground Music Scandinavia. In February 2010, Cosmos Music Group and Playground Music Scandinavia together acquired 100% of Edel Records Finland Oy from Edel Gmbh. The Finnish operation - Playground Music BAM Finland Oy - is now owned by the two companies with a 50% stake each. The logistics of Cosmos Music's distribution is today being handled by ENS in Borås, Sweden. This is a company, not a label. For releases use Cosmos (4).
