Avatar Records was established in the spring of 1997 when Avichay Avigal joined forces with Peter Eibenschutz, a well known veteran and appreciated figure in the local and international scene. The two had been organizing and promoting indoor and outdoor parties since the early 90s, and were the main members of “Habrit” party organization. The very first release (Ama Zone / Asia 2001) was picked up by Sony Music Asia and became the first psytrance album licensed and released in major Asian countries. Avatar immediately became a subsidiary of NMC Music / Sony Israel. Shortly after that, Sony went on and signed with Avatar a deal, and its releases became available in south east Asia. Through the years Avatar has gained a strong reputation and is recognized as a label of quality, who focuses on exploring new sounds and new talents from around the world, as well as releasing original material by well established names. Today Avatar is a fully independent label. Its main musical genres are trance, ambient, chill and lounge. Under the umbrella of Avatar are the labels: Trans'Pact, Pro File, the classics label of Avatar that features some of the best all time favorite albums in trance and ambient; Avatar Spirit, mainly focusing on lounge and yoga. Avatar released albums from: The Nommos, Thomas Leer, Nimba, Total Eclipse, Synchro, X-Dream, Asia 2001, Toi Doi, Boris Blenn, Cydonia, Prana, GMS, Orion, Mixmaster Morris, Sandman, Reflex, Indoor, Elysium, to name just a few. In Avatar’s artist roster are: Goa Gil, Nimba, The Nommos, Astropilot, Overdream, Becoming.Intense and more.
