Also appears as "Alegre" only. The Alegre Records label was founded by Al Santiago in New York in 1955 (his record store in Manhattan was called Casa Alegre - translation 'happy house'). This label went in direct competition to the Tico record label during the 1960s. The label was sold to Branston Music in 1966, then to Roulette Records, and was subsequently sold to Fania Records, which re-released some of the back catalog on CD during the 1990s. The label was distributed by Sonodisc in the 70s and 80s. All Alegre Records with black labels and Hi-Fi branding on labels are the 1st release. All Alegre Records with Darker Blue labels, and Hi-Fi (or Hi-Fi Mono/Hi-Fi Stereo) branding on labels are the 1st Repress. All Alegre Records with Darker Blue labels, and Mono branding on labels are the 1st Repress/Reissues All Alegre Records with Lighter Blue labels, and Hi-Fi branding on labels are the 1st Repress. = 2nd pressing, Lighter Blue labels= Reissues
