About

# MAKOTO

Japanese drum’n'bass producer and remixer crafting intricate, soulful breaks since the late 1990s. Makoto’s sound draws inspiration from the jazzy, atmospheric aesthetics of LTJ Bukem and Goldie, blending technical precision with emotive production. His breakthrough came with the downtempo collaboration “Feelin' You” (2001) featuring vocalist Lori Fine, which showcased his ability to move beyond pure drum’n'bass into more experimental territory.

The release of his debut album (2003) established Makoto as a distinctive voice in the drum’n'bass scene, balancing intricate breakbeats with melodic sensibility. Beyond his original productions, his remix work has further cemented his reputation for thoughtful reinterpretation, bringing depth and sophistication to tracks across electronic music genres.
