Magazine were a pioneering English post-punk band from Manchester who emerged from the late 1970s underground. Formed in 1977 by Howard Devoto following his departure from punk outfit Buzzcocks, the group carved out a distinctive sound that blended post-punk intensity with experimental electronic elements and art-rock sensibilities. Their innovative approach to songwriting and production helped define the post-punk aesthetic during their initial run from 1977 to 1981.
