About

# G. E. Stinson

G. E. Stinson is an American guitarist and founding member of the pioneering electronic ensemble Shadowfax, established in 1974. A virtuoso in extended guitar techniques and frequency manipulation, Stinson spent six albums developing the group's signature blend of new age and electronic soundscapes before departing after *The Odd Get Even* (1989). His work with Shadowfax established him as a key figure in bridging experimental guitar work with electronic music production.

Following his departure from Shadowfax, Stinson has maintained a prolific collaborative practice within the experimental and improvisational music sphere. He has worked extensively with ensembles including Napalm Quartet, Splinter Group, and Metalworkers, while also collaborating with fellow innovators such as Alex De Grassi and Devin Sarno. His 2003 release *Bone Structure*—a live studio collaboration with drummer Gregg Bendian, violinist Jeff Gauthier, and bassist Steuart Liebig—showcased his commitment to collective improvisation and earned critical acclaim for its explorative approach to real-time composition and sonic experimentation.
