About

**Los Popularos**

Vancouver-based punk outfit Los Popularos emerged in the early 1980s as a dynamic force in Canada’s underground music scene. Originally formed as Los Radicos Popularos in late 1980, the group—featuring John Armstrong, Bill Scherk, Art Bergmann, Tony Bardach, and Zippy Pinhead—solidified their lineup and shortened their name to Los Popularos by 1981, transitioning from part-time project to full-time commitment.

During their brief but impactful run from 1981 to 1983, Los Popularos released two notable records that captured the raw energy of early '80s punk: the single “Working Girls” b/w “Mystery To Myself” (1981) and the *Born Free* 12-inch EP (1982). The band toured extensively across North America before disbanding in winter 1983, leaving a mark on Canada’s punk landscape and launching members toward solo careers and subsequent projects.
