Tetris, a pioneering group within the Russian electronic music scene, was founded by Vlad Lozinsky in the early 1990s. Known for their innovative use of new technology in music production, Tetris quickly distinguished themselves in the burgeoning electronic landscape. The group's name, inspired by the iconic Russian video game, signifies their playful and inventive approach to music.
Their collaboration expanded in 1994 when Pavel Hotin, formerly of the Moscow group "Zvuki Mu" and collaborator with Brian Eno, joined Lozinsky for a live performance that marked the beginning of a fruitful musical partnership. The duo's creative synergy was further enhanced with the addition of Dmitry Rubegov in 1996, bringing fresh ideas from his experience as a club promoter. Together, they crafted unique sounds that contributed significantly to electronic music, with their work featured in High Fashion Week in Moscow and various Russian CD compilations between 1996 and 1998. Tetris remains a notable name for their early adoption of electronic production techniques and their contributions to the genre's development in Russia.
