# Altar of Plagues

Altar of Plagues are an Irish experimental metal collective from Cork that pushes the boundaries of atmospheric black metal with electronic and ambient textures. Founded by James Kelly, the group gained early recognition through self-recorded demos and EPs before signing to Profound Lore Records for their debut *White Tomb* (2009), an album that established their signature blend of tremolo-picked guitars and layered synth work.

The band's evolution continued with *Mammal* (2011) on Candlelight Records, showcasing a more expansive approach to production with intricate electronic elements woven throughout dense, hypnotic compositions. Their live performances, including European headline tours and festival appearances, have become known for immersive soundscapes that blur the lines between metal and electronic music, positioning them as innovators within the intersection of traditional metal instrumentation and modern production techniques.
