English saxophonist and flutist Geoff Leigh is best known for his work with the pioneering avant-garde ensemble Henry Cow, where he helped shape the group's experimental approach to progressive rock and improvisation. His virtuosic soprano saxophone and flute playing became central to the band's boundary-pushing sound throughout the 1970s.
Beyond Henry Cow, Leigh has led and collaborated with numerous projects including Red Balune, Random Bob, Black Sheep, Mirage, and Ex-Wise Heads, consistently exploring the intersection of jazz, progressive rock, and experimental composition. His innovative approach to wind instruments within complex, genre-defying arrangements has established him as a significant figure in avant-garde and experimental music.
