About

# Chris Stockley

Chris Stockley is an Australian guitarist and songwriter whose career spans multiple decades of rock and blues-influenced music. Moving to Australia in 1964, Stockley established himself as a versatile session and band guitarist, known for his collaborative approach to composition and his signature dual-guitar arrangements. His early work with groups including Cam-pact (1967)—where he contributed to original compositions like "Something Easy" and "Michael"—laid the foundation for his later prominence in Australian rock.

Stockley's most notable contributions came through his membership in seminal Australian rock acts Axiom (1969) and The Dingoes (1973), where he developed his songwriting craft alongside accomplished musicians including Kerryn Tolhurst. His compositional approach evolved from collaborative riff-building rather than sudden inspiration, resulting in carefully crafted arrangements that reflected his blues and rock foundations. He later formed Stockley, See & Mason (1978) with acclaimed musicians Sam See and Glyn Mason, further refining his vocal and writing contributions to the group's sound.

Throughout his career, Stockley has remained a respected figure in Australian rock circles, known for his technical proficiency and collaborative spirit across multiple generations of musicians and touring projects.
