About
# チェキッ娘 (Checkicco)
Checkicco was a Japanese pop group active from 1998 to 1999, produced by legendary music producer Akimoto Yasushi. Debuting with the single “Dakishimete” in late 1998, the group cycled through 21 members during its brief run, establishing themselves as a notable entry in late-90s J-pop with their upbeat, accessible pop sound that appealed to mainstream television audiences.
Despite appearances across multiple television programs and a dedicated TV show, Checkicco’s commercial momentum proved short-lived, ultimately disbanding in 1999. The group reunited briefly in 2004 for the special “Girl Pop Factory,” featuring members Tanaka Rina, Igarashi Megumi, Kaida Satomi, and Oota Yuka, offering fans a nostalgic glimpse of the era’s idol pop landscape.
